Four diverse cities, 30 compassionate Baldwin Wallace University students and one short summer break week added up to a world of difference. The BW Alternative Break service program gives students the opportunity to spend their breaks helping others. The summer 2019 student volunteers traveled to Clarkston, Georgia; Kissimmee, Florida; Portland, Oregon; and Raleigh, North Carolina. Each journey was led by a BW student with support from a University faculty or staff adviser.

Fifteen students achieved membership in Kappa Mu Epsilon, National Mathematics Honor Society, in the spring 2019 semester.

Miami University students who are ranked in the top three percent of undergraduate students within each division for second semester 2018-19 have been named to the president's list recognizing academic excellence.

The following students have been named to the Dean's List for the spring 2019 semester at Baldwin Wallace University according to BW Provost Stephen D. Stahl. Any full-time student who achieves a GPA of at least 3.6 for 12 or more graded hours or part-time student who achieves a GPA of at least 3.6 for six or more graded hours in the fall or spring semester will be placed on the Dean's List.

Youngstown State University awarded graduate and undergraduate degrees and certificates to more than 1,500 students for at commencement earlier this spring.

Nineteen students achieved membership in Baldwin Wallace University's Epsilon Nu Chapter of the National Communication Association's Lambda Pi Eta Honor Society in the spring 2019 semester.

Thirteen students achieved membership in Baldwin Wallace University's Delta Phi chapter of the Delta Alpha Pi International Honor Society in the spring 2019 semester. Delta Alpha Pi is an academic honor society founded to recognize high-achieving students with disabilities who are attending colleges and universities as undergraduate or graduate students. This dynamic organization celebrates and supports academic achievement, leadership and advocacy for post-secondary students with disabilities.

The dean's list for the spring 2019 semester at the University of Findlay has been announced.

Eleven students achieved membership in the BW Delta Upsilon Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta National History Honor Society in the spring 2019 semester.

Thirty-two outstanding student writers and artists at Baldwin Wallace University are featured in the 2019 edition of BW's annual literary and art journal, The Mill. The student-directed and student-operated publication showcases the creative achievements of students from across campus disciplines.

Nearly 770 Coastal Carolina University students were named to the President's List for the Spring 2019 semester. To be named to the President's List, students must achieve a 4.0 grade point average (GPA) for the semester. CCU has a student body of 10,600. More than 2,000 students were also named to the Dean's List for the spring semester, which means more than 21 percent of the student body earned recognition on either the Dean's List or the President's List. Of those on the President's List, 141 are freshmen, 177 are sophomores, 166 are juniors and 285 are seniors.

Nine BW history majors presented papers at the 2019 Phi Alpha Theta Ohio Regional Conference on March 16-17, 2019. The conference was hosted by the Baldwin Wallace University History Department and BW's Delta Upsilon Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta National History Honor Society.

The University of Findlay's Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble recently performed "Through the Narrow Gate - The Road to Salvation" for their annual spring concert.

Ovation Festival, BW's annual celebration of student achievement, showcased student success in research, scholarship, experiential learning, the arts and more. The signature event of the festival was the Day of Excellence, which featured student work from every school of the university through posters, displays, live presentations and performances.

Four Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis student-athletes have landed on the Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.

The day concluded with the Honors Award Ceremony that recognized students with scholarships and awards.

Miami University announces the launch of an official new podcast, Major Insight, which explores what college students can achieve when ambition meets opportunity. Produced in collaboration with Miami's Reframe podcast, Major Insight features stories behind the success of highly motivated students, their promising new research, and its relevance in our world. Hosted by Miami honors student Jacob Bruggeman, each episode gives listeners an insightful look into how students are navigating 21st century academic life. Bruggeman's interviews highlight the personal journeys of each guest, as well as their contributions to a variety of fields. "Too often, students see research as something 'other students' do, or something that's time-consuming and 'not for me.' Research is for everyone. It can be scaled to your availability, interests, and course load. Major Insight makes this clear. Prospective and current students alike should listen to better understand how every student can transform a subject into a passion." The first episode is available now. It features accomplished Miami senior Emily Tatum, who describes how her university experiences helped transform her personal interests into internships with the Pentagon and the U.S. Department of State, her research on U.S. foreign policy, and more. According to James Loy, Major Insight producer and Reframe host, Major Insight will resonate with listeners on several levels. "There many current students, prospective students, and even parents who want to get the most out of the college experience," Loy said. "So this podcast can serve as a guide, or a roadmap, by introducing listeners to the endless variety of opportunities that are available in higher education. It's also been inspirational to hear how these Miami students have accomplished so much, so quickly. So the podcast is also a really interesting glimpse into the young minds who are excited to make an equally powerful impact out in the world." The Baldwin Wallace University Honors Program officially inducted 19 rising sophomore students at a pinning ceremony during the spring 2019 semester. The program strives for a learning environment inside and outside the classroom that engages the whole student, seeks to connect theoretical ideas to real world applications, fosters independent thinking and brings students together into a community of scholars.

A distinguished group of students at Baldwin Wallace University has reached BW's pinnacle of academic honor society achievement with induction into the Dayton C. Miller Honor Society. Less than four percent of the undergraduate student body achieves membership in the society.

Thirty-one students spent the fall 2018 semester away from BW learning off campus. With help from the BW Study Abroad Center's Independent Study program, students created individualized immersion experiences in Australia, England, Ireland, Italy, Morocco, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Washington, D.C. and on the high seas.

This spring, the BW theatre and dance community presented "fyoo zh en," the annual dance concert combining choreography with faculty research. This year's concert was inspired by sociology and criminal justice professor Dr. Brian Monahan's book, "The Shock of the News: Media Coverage and the Making of 9/11," which examines how America's news media influences our perception of social reality.
